Checkup Checklist: 1 Month Old

Now that your child is one month old, there could be new checkup lists you might require.

It is time to take your child to the pediatrician once again. The doctors will take a deep look at your child.

What to bring to the doctor?

Whether using a patient’s online portal or not, you must bring all the relevant documents to the pediatric healthcare center. That may include documents received at the birth time and those received afterward.

The checkups and tests your child may undergo

There could be several tests and routine checkups the pediatricians would conduct. Some of the examples may include:

  • Immunizations: Your child has already received the first jab of Hepatitis B (HBV) in the first visit. It’s time to give them the second dose. If not after one month, your child might get it in the next visit – month two checkup.
  • Screenings: Time to check your baby’s full health. The doctor will check/ask how much the baby is eating, the frequency of meals, the pooping, peeing cycle, the weight, etc.
  • Development & behavior: Good pediatricians will also look into your child’s development and behavioral activities.

Besides your baby’s health, the doctor will also examine the mother’s health. Their health is also important for the pediatrician. The mother’s health is directly related to the baby’s health. If the mother isn’t feeling better, how could she care for the children?

Things you should know or ask your pediatrician

You may ask your doctor questions about your baby’s health and development.

Is my baby growing normally?

There is no one answer to that. The answer to that will vary depending on your child.

What do I do when the crying is too much?

Crying is the only way babies express their feelings. They cry when they are hungry. They will cry when they are sleepy. They cry when they feel cold. And so on. However, if your baby cries too much and not just one day, it could be a thing to worry about. Take your child to a pediatrician and ask for a suitable solution.

Can I share the bed with my baby?

Pediatricians usually don’t suggest bed sharing with babies, especially when they’re four months or below.
